Our newest offering for the slope pilot is quite the beauty. This nicely made slope sailplane is perfect for the intermediate pilot but any expert will enjoy its handling and performance. What's even better is that the Filip Slope is an ARF! For the slope flier who doesn’t want to build and wants to have the best in a versatile slope ship, the Filip Slope, this is the way to go!
The Filip has a painted (gel-coated) fiberglass fuselage with contrasting canopy. The wings are foam then reinforced with fiberglass, sheeted with balsa and covered with oracover. The wing is completely finished and is ready for servo installation. The ailerons are precut and beveled and servo bays are cut with the wire holes ready. The wing is finished in in oracover so very little is left to the modeler. The wing is beautifully built and light in weight, utilizing the RG15 airfoil modified at the tip for optimum performance. The prebuilt V-tails are covered with matching oracover and the elevators are also finished and covered ready for hinging. Just glue together the two V-tail halves you’re ready to go. All you do to complete the kit is to hinge the wing and tails, mount them to the fuselage and set up and install the radio system. This is a very high quality sailplane and a very well behaved flier. We at NSP make sure you get a complete set of hardware as well as a set of illustrated instructions. One of the great features of the Filip Slope is the two piece wing. The wings come with a wingrod so that you are able to set the Filip up so that the wing can be broken-down for storage and transportation. All hardware is provided to do this with and small amount of modifications is easily accomplished. The V-tail is mounted on the tail in a molded saddle on the fuselage and can also be made removable.
The airfoil used on the Filip Slope is the RG15. It provides an increased speed range and excellent handling. Using three servos (two in the wing) gives the Filip Slope more precise, crisp aileron control, the ability to use the ailerons as spoilerons, and leaves room under the wing saddle for ballast. You can also use 4 servos, two for the ailerons and two for the ruddervators. With active ruddervators the pilot will have more precis control in lighter lift for inland slope soaring and thermalling. There is plenty of room in the fuselage to run the two ruddervator servos side by side so the ballast compartment can still be utilized.
Beauty, performance, and versatility make this a must-have plane for the slope enthusiast. This is a clean sailplane and will fly in an amazing variety of slopes and conditions. The light overall weight and low wingloading means that you are able to fly the Filip in conditions were many slope sailplanes are sitting on the ground. Due to the clean design of the Filip Slope, ballast the Filip up and it becomes a slope rocket able to do some amazing maneuvers and will fly in strong winds with ease. This glider is designed for a wide range of flying conditions. It is very easy for the intermediate to fly, and will delight you with its smooth flying and handling characteristics.
