The new series GABBY models are multipurpose sailplanes and electric-sailplanes.

This is the Ultimate inland slope soaring machine! The Gabby is lightweight, strong and has a tremendous speed range. It is a beautifully molded two meter sailplane with removeable V-tails, two piece wings with elliptical leading edge and Hoerner winglets.

The hollow molded wings and tails are made in CNC machined aluminum molds that is the best way to exactly reproduce the new generation or airfoils. The surface finish is exceptional as a result of highly polished molds. The elliptical planform, along with the special transitioning airfoils, give the wing the most efficient planform available. This is especially true with the Hoerner Tips. The fuselage is made from fiberglass with carbon fiber reinforcement . This gives you a strong and stiff fuselage at a low overall weight.

The Gabby comes in ARF form with wings, fuselage, and tails fully molded. All parts are painted in the mold. There are several colors available. The wings are two piece and are joined with a special 5 degree square joiner. This system is both very strong and light weight. The molded V-tails are two separate pieces and plug into the rear of the fuselage similar to the Renny. The Gabby will breakdown to a small flat package so you can transport it easily. The Gabby makes a perfect traveling model! All the hardware is included with the Gabby so all that is needed is to install radio system. You should be able to have the Gabby ready for flight in one or two evenings.

The new series of AG airfoils are excellent for multi purpose flight. They have an excellent speed range and the transitioning airfoil not only adds aerodynamic twist to the wing, enhancing stability, but increases overall efficiency by managing the lift over all parts of the wing. The elliptical leading edge coupled with the Hoerner Tip control the spanwise flow over the wing and reduce tip vortices further adding to the overall performance of the Gabby wing. This results in a very clean, efficient wing with outstanding performance. While the Gabby will fly quite slow it really excels is in its midrange and higher speeds. This is where the Gabby shows what a properly designed planform and profile can do. The full span large ailerons make for immediate response and a fast roll rate. The airfoils and planform give you a wide speed range with a slow speed float and a fast mid range glide. High speed is also excellent.

In flight tests we have found the Gabby to have an incredible glide and float and easily responds to both slope and thermal lift. At altitude, it is a blast to simply point the nose earthward and do a high speed pass! With its large, full span ailerons and long tail moment the the Gabby is smooth and very aerobatic. Rolls are fast and crisp and loop nice and smooth. The large surfaces give you fast response and the high aspect ratio V-tail is rock solid in the turns and allows for excellent control at both high and low speeds. The gabby can be flown at a low wingloading and will fly in lift usually reserved for a handlaunch glider. Yet the airfoil has a very nice speed range and even at this low wingloading does well in breezy conditions. Ballasted up the gabby will go fast and maneuvers with excellent energy retention. The large ailerons make great spoilerons and properly setup result in excellent control of the glide path for landings. The Gabby will fly slow, go fast and is aerobatic...The Gabby does it all!

Features:

  • The Fuselage is made of fiberglass Kevlar/carbon and has a carbon canopy. There is enough space in the fuselage to place battery, receiver and servos.

  • The tail boom is larger in diameter that giving it the most stiffness.

  • The ailerons (and flaps optional) servos bays are pre molded and cutout

  • The servo fairings are provided..

  • The fuselage is gel coated (painted in the mold) The molded are very accurately made from laminated in aluminum.

  • Wing – are two piece with CF square joiner; colored, gel coated and laminated in the aluminum mold, the wing has a light sandwich, hollow construction with full carbon spar for strength. Ailerons and flaps are completely ready and hinged and come with installed wipers.

  • V-Tail surfaces – colored, sandwich hollow construction with hinged rudders.

  • Wings and V-tail surfaces are molded with Vacuum Bagging technology. This results in a very accurate and strong light wing, and tail.

NEW! Now you can get the Gabby with flaps and ailerons! This version of the Gabby gives you the ultimate control of both the airfoil and the glide of the Gabby. With a little camber across the whole trailing edge you can fly in the absolute lightest lift and with the ability to use flaps and/or crow you can now landing in the smallest landing area!

We suggest using HS-125MG or the HS-5125M servos for the wings as the ailerons are full length and large. If you are going to get the Gabby as a flapped and ailerons version we suggest using 4 of the HS-65MG servos. We suggest using the HS-56HB or the HS-65HB servos for the tails. The Futaba S3110 servos will also work fine. Any receiver can be used such as the Hitec Electron 6 or Hitec Fusion receiver. For JR we suggest using the JR 720 Synth receiver. aAnd the new Berg 7 from Castle Creationsis a perfect match for this sailplane.

Sal Says:
This Gabby is the perfect sloper for our inland slopes. You can range out away from the hill for thermals, then come screaming back for slope runs in the lift near the hill. For me this is a keeper!
