The Fireworks III features five main advantages over US made SuperGee based designs.
Fully Molded Wing for incredible airfoil fidelity and optimal elliptical lift distribution. No bagged wing, no matter how well crafted can match the performance of a molded wing. The combination of a fully molded construction process and Mark Drela's AG45c-47c airfoils optimized for the DLG task is absolutely amazing.
Winglets for discus launching provide smooth aerodynamic grips, allowing multiple grip styles, with a great feel and tactile feedback, while also helping to reduce tip vortex based drag.
Carbon Tube Aileron Reinforcement stiffens the ailerons for zero flutter on even the hardest launches and allows for:
Hidden Aileron Torque Tubes that provide a clean airfoil for the entire span without external pushrods or the hassle and weight of an RDS type design.
Full Flying Elevator eliminates the hassle of incorrect incidence and provides the lowest possible drag at any flap setting, whether it's for launch, thermal or penetration flight modes.
The Fireworks III is fully computer designed and molded using CNC machined molds. Additionally, the design has been carefully optimized through the use of computational analysis, wind tunnel based laboratory analysis and real world flight data analysis. The Fireworks III is a state-of-the-art F3K Discus Launch flying machine fully capable of contest winning performance.
The Fireworks III can be purchased with three wing types.
Balsa Sandwich Construction Wing This is the lightest version at approx 260g and is optimized for light wind conditions. This is a real floater and offers the highest launches for pilots with untrained throwing arms.
Disser Wing This is the intermediate all-rounder version at 265g which features a stronger spar and a criss-cross pattern of carbon tow built into the wing resulting in unmatched torsional rigidity with very little weight penalty. This is the wing of choice for competition level F3K pilots for most conditions.
Full Carbon Wing This wing is optimized for windy conditions and features full carbon sheeting top and bottom at 290g. This is the stiffest wing and is capable of the highest starts (if you've got the arm for it). Also, the heavier weight provides impressive penetration though downdrafts or when you're shooting out to the next thermal.
We recommend using four Futaba S3110 servos, a Berg MicroStamp 4L receiver and a three or four cell NIMH 300mAh battery for maximum performance.
