Mistral

Skill Level INT/INT
Wingspan 102 in.
Wingarea 751 in²
Weight 65-73 oz.
Wingloading 12-14 oz/ft²
Airfoil S3021

Mistral is a powerful thermal glider with ailerons and wing flaps There is a continuos wing deflection that makes its shape ideal. Fiberglass wing endings are bent down which improves flying characteristics. Mistral is ideal for slope and thermal flying. This electric version is great for any weather conditions and with the S3021 airfoil will penetrate well in wind while still being able to work reasonably light lift. We suggest a geared brushless motor system with Li-poly batteries for best performance and lightest weight.

The Mistral has ailerons, flaps, elevator, rudder and throttle as the controls, two servos each for the ailerons and flaps. We recommend using the HS-85BB servos for the ailerons, rudder, and elevator, and the HS-85MG for the flaps. For the best overall setup you can go to the HS-125MG for both flaps and ailerons. These are wing servos and make for a very nice flat installation. For the receiver we suggest a 7 channel receiver.

The Mistral is a nice size for local schoolyard flying and with the flaps and can land easily in a small area. The fiberglass fuselage is white gelcoated with an extended blue canopy making for easy access to the battery and radio system. you can remove the battery through the canopy so need to remove the wing. The fuselage sports an integrated fin for the T-tail elevator and stab. The two piece wing and tail simply bolts onto the fuselage and will break down back into the original shipping box for transportation. There is plenty of room in the fuselage for all the gear plus either a 10 cell Nicad or Nimhd or a 3 cell Li-poly battery. The wings are very nicely done, sheeted with balsa and covered with Oracover and are reinforced with fiberglass between the balsa and foam for added strength.

The slight polyhedral to the wings makes for nice easy handling and coupled with the airfoil and light wingloading makes for a very nice thermaling sailplane!

Special Features:

Medusa Motor System-lgsail-lipoly

These Medusa motors are simply awesome. They are as good or better than the Aveox motor and at a more reasonable price. We are VERY glad we found them! The Medusa MR-028-056-1900 is equivalent to the Aveox 2729/1.5 but a little more efficient and a little more thrust. Here is what you get: The Medusa MR- 028-056-1900 with Planetary 4.3-1 Gear drive, Phoenix 45 brushless sensorless speed control, 3-cell 4000 mah Li-Poly, folding Cam prop, spinner and hub as well as all connectors and hardware. This will take this machine skyward at a very rapid rate of climb!
