The New SparrowHawk Composite features all the same qualities as the Sparrow C but in a bigger package. The SparrowHawk C can range farther and fly both slower and faster than its little brother. Reynolds Numbers don't lie; when you make a design larger it becomes more efficient. The SparrowHawk C is not just a scaled-up design. It was built from the ground up, taking the best aspects of the Sparrow C and improving and enhancing them to produce the best sailplane in this size. An increase on the aspect ratio of the wings has produced an immediate bonus in performance. Knowing that the SparrowHawk will see a lot of ballast for fun flying and slope racing, the wings have an internal spar totally reinforced for the punishment it will see on the slope. The All carbon fiber wing is now two piece for ease of travel and breakdown and sport a removable tail.

The SparrowHawk C uses the same construction as the Sparrow C with a few important differences. The wing is reinforced and sparred and able to support twice the normal flying weight. The two piece wing slides together and bolts on for quick assembly. The V-tail is cut from foam with the SD8020 airfoil and is pre-made and painted ready to mount on to the fuselage. Wing servos are standard with the SparrowHawk, allowing precise control. The two wing servo version allows the use of Flaperons, both for landing control and for maximizing the efficiency of high banked turns. You are able to also order the SparrowHawk c in a full 6 servo version with flaps, ailerons, and ruddervators for the ultimate in control and precise handling. The SparrowHawk fuselage has room for a standard size radio and battery pack. Hardware is complete with full-sized plans and building instructions.

If you are into cruising, flying on a bigger slope or if you just want to be able to use your full-sized radio gear, the SparrowHawk makes a good choice. Versatility is also an important quality of this design. We do most of our soaring on inland slopes with a mixture of thermals and slope lift, which the SparrowHawk C loves. Unballasted, the SparrowHawk thermals as well as any high performance 2 meter sailplane - but when you get it up high, just point the nose over and pick up some speed for serious aerobatics and high speed passes. Ballast the SparrowHawk and it will give the all-out racers a good contest.
