Finally a European fully molded gel coated slope sailplane that flies like we like
them in the USA! The guys that brought you the Epsilon 1.5 and Omega models have done a
lot of work and research and have brought the new Epsilon 2M. This all molded model is not
only a beauty but is a phenomenal sailplane for slope of thermal.
Due the the large amount of streamlining, low drag fuselage, surfaces and the RG
15 airfoil, the Epsilon 2M is a fast sailplane and it beautifully constructed with almost
nothing to do except put in the radio, but unlike your typical Euro stuff the Epsilon 2M
was designed to handle very well .The ailerons and flaps are generous and this results and
a fast roll rate as well as the ability to slow down quite well with the use of flaps or
crow. If you have the mixing capabilities, the ailerons and flaps can be used togther to
increase roll rate even more. The wing is quite a masterpiece with dihedral out
panels and curved leading edges. As a Slope/F3F you can be assured that the Epsilon 2M
will take everything you can give it! The Epsilon 2M has been tested with full
ballast at speed well over 100 mph and the airframe holds together beautifully. The
generous sized ailerons are large enough for excellent roll control, with the flap's
generous area, capable of stopping the Epsilon 2M fast! This combination can be used for
increased roll authority, camber changing and increased lift in the turns and best of all
for using 90 degrees flaps for landing. With the flaps fully deployed! the Epsilon 2M will
slow to a crawl! The low drag fuselage is constructed of Kevlar and carbon
fiber and while fairly light has been expertly reinforced and will take some serious
abuse. The all carbon fiber canopy allows excellent access to the radio gear and adds nice
contrast to the fuselage. Of course with the full use of flaps landings will a piece of
cake! The fuselage has the pushrods for the stabilator and rudder pre-installed. The
elevator bellcrank is also pre-installed in the fuselage and hooked up to the elevator
pushrod. All that is needed here is to slide on the two elevator halves with the
pre-installed stab rods, and install the elevator servo. One very nice thing about the
stabilators is that the stabilators are molded to overhang the leading edge of the rudder
and they enclose this area. This looks much nicer and is also aerodynamically cleaner.
When you open the box you will find the Epsilon 2M almost ready to fly. You can
assemble the Epsilon 2M in just a few minutes! So do so, admire it, then it's time to put
the radio in! All hardware is included and it is very possible to have the Epsilon
2M flying in just one or two evenings of light work. Most of the work is the radio
installation. The finish is beautiful on this all molded sailplane. The two- piece
wing joins with a strong carbon fiber joiner and the stabilators simply slide onto the
fuselage. The rudder is also installed and pre-hinged and uses a simple control horn and
clevis for the maximum in smooth slope-free control. The ailerons and flaps are live
hinged with wipers installed and are both hinged at the top surface of the wing. The flap
servo pushrods come out the top of the wing and there are pre-molded recesses and top wing
fairings so this juncture looks good and is drag free. The Epsilon 2M can be flown with
two aileron and two flaps servos in the wings for crow, flap, aileron, and camber control,
and two servos in the fuselage for the rudder and stabilator. We recommend using either
the Hitec
HS-125MG or the Hitec HS-5125MG wing servos and the HS-85BB or HS-85MG for
stabilator and rudder for maximum performance.

The gently curved wings with the slightly curved up tip are a very efficient
design. The Epsilon 2M picks up speed fast and retains this through the turns, mostly due
to careful attention to planform detail and overall smoothness of the beautifully molded
surfaces. The Epsilon 2M comes in either white or yellow with red, or blue bottom
surfaces. (please check for availability)
This plane will fly well in a wide variety of lift conditions and is stable
throughout its wide speed range. This is a very well behaved flier, and will still blaze
down the straight-aways and pull through the turns with amazing speed. With a good power
system expect vertical performance but it really shines with the power off. Expect extreme
acceleration in a dive and very fast yet smooth passes. Take the Epsilon 2M up to thermal
height and she will slow down nicely. Add a little trailing edge camber and the Epsilon 2M
thermals well even in light lift! Don't forget you don't have to sweat the landing because
with the flaps she will slow down beautifully and you can easily put the Epsilon 2M down
gently right at your feet!
Sal Says:
This is a state of the art sailplane with a high degree of streamlining. The airfoil and planform make the Epsilon 2M a multi task sailplane which is at home on the slopes as well as in any TD contest winners circle.
