From the Ukraine where all the best and lightest synergistic composite sailplanes are made comes the Hyper DLG. The Hyper combines the technology from the Hybrid DLG Sailplane with new airfoils and better weight and strength! Like all sailplanes form the Ukraine, the Hyper DLG is a technological breakthrough. A light, strong wing with a molded Kevlar
and Carbon fiber leading edge and a blend of carefully machined ribs reinforced with carbon fiber and Kevlar, the Hyper DLG achieves strength and torsional rigidity reserved only for fully molded wings at literally half the weight.
The workmanship on the Hyper DLG is simply amazing! The tapered, spiral wrapped carbon fiber tailboom fits perfectly into the rear fitting on the fiberglass and carbon pod with integral nosecone. The interior of the boom sports a fitted carbon and balsa keel for installation of the radio gear The are accurately built and pre-hinged to the main wing. The trailing edges is a thin piece of carbon fiber for rigidity and strength. The tails
are completely built up with carbon fiber at the trailing edges. The newest version sports a separate horizontal fin and elevator mounted on a small pylon with the vertical fin and rudder going through a slot at the back of the boom. As with all parts on the Hyper DLG, what is evident is the attention to detail. A really beautiful setup that is light and very strong.
Transportability is one of the strong points with the Hyper DLG. The wing is two piece with a carbon fiber wingrod. The left wing has a reinforced hole in the tip which fits the supplied CF launching peg. The left wing is built with the full center section of wing so that you can bolt this on with a very solid fit and then slide the right half of the wing on to the wingrod. This allows for a very strong wing to fuse connection and allows for a two-piece wing without compromising the launching strength of the wing. The horizontal stab is removable with one bolt so you can breakdown the Hyper to a flat package for shipping and transport. A perfect sailplane for taking on a vacation!
Similar to the Hybrid, the Hyper DLG is a ship fully built and ready for radio installation. Only 4 servos are needed for the Hyper DLG. We have used the MX-30 or CS-4.4 servos with good results. Two are needed for the ailerons, one each for the rudder and elevator. The ailerons are separately built and pre-hinged for you. They are inbaord of the wingtip by six inches inches which allows greater aileron throw while still maintaining good control and airflow over the tip. This makes for excellent fast response with no fear of a possible tip stall. the handling is very easy going on the Hyper DLG. The elevator suits on a pylon mount above the boom and in front of the vertical stab which sits in a slot on the tailboom. The vertical fin has 1/3 of the fin below the boom for straight, high launches. The quality and fit of parts is the highest and installation of radio equipment should only take an evening. Overall perfect parts fit and good looks are already a given in Hyper DLG.
We find that the Hyper is one of the lightest European production sailplanes and consequently will fly in very light lift. New airfoils that are currently being developed in Europe are easily becoming a match for some of the best American designed airfoils, but this one is better. The hyper DLG incorporates the drela designed airfoil and tweaked by some of the best in eastern Europe. The result is a sailplane that launches very well, and will fly in very light lift. Due to the structure the handling is very light and immediate. this becomes useful in working light lift or small strong thermals. The planform is fairly simple yet has a subtle curve to the leading edge, resulting in a combination of no surprises handling and good performance. Launching is quite easy as with all European ship the Hyper DLG has been designed to launch well without the use of a gyro! Of all the competition ships that we have flown the Hyper is by far the easiest to fly and get the maximum performance with the least amount of tweeking.. It seems to be very forgiving and once it enters it tends to stay in a thermal with very little persuading. We have been surprised by both the performance of this sailplane and just how easy it is to fly and thermal well.
We suggest using a Berg 7 receiver, and 4 CS-101 servos. The battery will need to be a 270 mah Nimhd battery for best results.
Sal Says:
Nice easy going DLG with contest performance. I like to fly this one every day as it will take the abuse and treats me to great long thermal flights everytime I have it out.
The handling has no surprises and I can really catch those low-to-the-ground thermals with ease.
