Of all the airplanes I saw fly at the Prague Show 2003, I was most impressed by the
Microbat and the 2Cool. Both of these airplanes are designed by David Kyjovský and
manufactured by Free Air in the Czech Republic.

The 2Cool is the biplane which David flew more than any of his airplanes and it was
obvious this aircraft did very well with both smooth pattern maneuvers and many 3D style
maneuvers. Hovering, slow flight and harriers were excellent! As with the Microbat its
true forte is indoor precision aerobatics which are a combination of pattern maneuvers and
3D antics. The 2Cool can perform all of these very well. designed from the ground up as a
competition aircraft the 2Cool carries no extra weight, yet due to its unique construction
is quite crash resistant. The 2Cool is designed to fly best with one of the small
brushless out runners (We suggest either the Rotex, PJS or AXI motors) and flies well with
2-3 cell Li-poly packs in the 340-1500mah range. The typical flying weight is 11 ounces
which results in a low wingloading and the 2Cool will float through the air and with a
touch of throttle immediately accelerate allowing for full control during ultra slow speed
maneuvers. The generous wing area, and moderately high aspect ratio gives the 2Cool a very
good glide which definitely helps in all maneuvers.
Many of the attributes of the 2Cool are a direct result of lots of flight testing and
an attempt to make the 2Cool the best precision indoor aerobatic flyer. The wings are made
of flat EPP foam and the fuselage is hollow EPP construction. The Wings are supported with
an EPP Cabine between each wing for added stiffness and structure. All the moveable
surfaces are made of Depron for lightness and stiffness'. The horizontal and vertical
surfaces are fully moving for the most amount of control and the least amount of drag. We
would have to say that this system contributes greatly to the 2Cool's amazing flight
characteristics. These fully moving surfaces allow extremely good control in the hover and
in cascades, and even Harriers are enhanced. the Fuselage sides are wide enough to support
knife edge flight and we find that this is truly the 2Cool's specialty! Knife edge 360's
are easily maintained with little extra compensation or programming of the controls. One
would have to say that the 2Cool is a very neutral flying machine and excellent attribute
and unusual in a slow indoor aircraft.
The Kit is basically an ARF and comes with the major components built. The fuselage,
wings are made from EPP. The fuselage comes two piece with the low half black EPP making
for a nice contrast in the model. The landing gear is molded carbon fiber and is perfect
for the model in that it absorbs a hard landing well but is stiff enough to protect the
airplane if you smack the ground. Four servos are needed for the 2Cool, using 2 servos for
the ailerons (there are ailerons on both wings) and one each for the rudder and
stabilator. The ailerons servos are embedded in the bottom wing and the tail servos go in
the sides of the fuselage near the center of gravity and the linkage is along the fuse. We
supply instructions, and a full set of hardware. The 2Cool is able to take a variety of
small brushless motor systems with just a little modification to the nose of the aircraft.
This is the absolute slowest EPP flying aircraft we have seen and is an excellent
indoor flyer as well as a great backyard one too!
We recommend very small servos in the 5-6 gram range. Try the Hitec HS-55 or the
E-Flite S75 servos. The best receiver will depend on your radio. We like the dual
conversion due better range, selectivity and sensitivity. The two we like the best are the
Electron 6
by Hitec and the Mikro
Designs SPF-5 RXO receiver. Both are very small and lightweight. Also if you are
looking for a radio system, try the Spektrum DX6.
This new technology 2.5 Ghz radio is perfect for the 2Cool. Ultra lightweight, NO
interference and you never have to worry what channel you are on!

Motor Systems
There are several good ones you can use. Here are our favorites.
Hacker A20-30M Light Motor System -li-poly
This included the Hacker A20-30M Brushless Outrunner Motor, the Hacker X-12 Amp Brushless
Sensorless Speed Control, Prop, Prop adapter, and 3-cell 830-850 mah Li-Poly battery
and comes with all hardware and connectors. Very powerful and excellent performance!
HiMax Outrunner Motor System-3dlipoly. With virtually the same power,
size, and weight as the AXI 2208/34, this Himaxx is the absolute best buy!. The system
includes the Himaxx HC2808-0950 Brushless Outrunner, Motor, Phoenix 10 Amp Brushless
Sensorless Speed Control, 3-cell 850 mah Li-Poly battery pack, APC Slowfly prop,
prop adapter, and all connectors.
HiMaxx 2808 Motor system-Li-Poly This motor system is excellentl for
the 2Cool and includes the HiMaxx 2808 motor with ThunderBird 18 amp Brushless controller,
APC prop, prop adapter, radial mount, 3 cell 880-900 Li-Poly battery, and all hardware
and connectors needed. Great power longer run time..great for outdoor flying!
Extreme value!
Sal Says:
I love to fly this airplane! The 2Cool is VERY slow so flying in a small area is a cinch! you can just level out the 2Cool and it speeds right up! I have flown it both indoors and outside with no probelms, and the airplane will take a lot of abuse too.
CD Says:
Abuse is right! You should see my pal Sal whack it into the dumpster in our parking lot! His new trick is smack into the dumpster then bounce back into a hover!
