Filip 2M Slope

Skill Level INT/INT
Wingspan 78.75 in.
Wingarea 512 in²
Weight 40 oz.
Wingloading 12 oz/ft²
Airfoil RG 15

This new version of the Filip slope series is the larger brother to the Filip Slope. The construction is the same with optional two piece wing and built up V-tail. with this larger span one can fly on larger slopes and range farther. the overall cruising speed is faster although the Filip 2M slope is able to fly in light lift. There is plenty of room for ballast in the fuselage for stronger lift and winds. With the RG15 airfoil and double tapered planform the Filip 2M slope will fly with the efficiency one would expect out of a two meter slope sailplane.

Quality is the same as you have come to expect in the Filip line of sailplanes and of course it is an ARF!

The Filip has a painted (gel-coated) fiberglass fuselage with contrasting canopy. The wings are foam then reinforced with fiberglass, sheeted with Obeechi and covered with oracover(light on top and dark colors on bottom). The wing is completely finished and is ready for servo installation. The ailerons are precut and beveled and servo bays indicated with the wire holes ready. The wing is strong enough to meet the most demanding slope conditions and overall, the sailplane is quite durable.beautifully built and light in weight, utilizing the RG15 airfoil modified at the tip for optimum performance. The prebuilt V-tails are covered with matching oracover and the elevators are also finished and covered ready for hinging. Just glue together the two V-tail halves you’re ready to go. All you do to complete the kit is to hinge the wing and tails, mount them to the fuselage and set up and install the radio system. This is a very high quality sailplane and a very well behaved flier. We at NSP make sure you get a complete set of hardware as well as a set of illustrated instructions. One of the great features of the Filip 2M Slope is the two piece wing. The wings come with a wingrod so that you are able to set the Filip up so that the wing can be broken-down for storage and transportation. All hardware is provided to do this and with a few modifications is easily accomplished. The V-tail is mounted on the tail in a molded saddle on the fuselage and can also be made removable.

The airfoil used on the Filip Slope is the RG15. It provides an increased speed range and excellent handling. Using three servos (two in the wing) gives the Filip Slope more precise, crisp aileron control, the ability to use the ailerons as spoilerons, and leaves room under the wing saddle for ballast. You can also use 4 servos, two for the ailerons and two for the ruddervators. With active ruddervators the pilot will have more precis control in lighter lift for inland slope soaring and thermalling. There is plenty of room in the fuselage to run the two ruddervator servos side by side so the ballast compartment can still be utilized.

Like its very popular smaller brother the Filip Slope, the Filip 2M Slope is a combination of beauty, performance, and versatility.

This larger design has improved L/D, better speed range and can be flown father away. It is a good choice for the larger slopes.

Now for the even better news! The price is simply amazing! This is a beautifully made and executed sailplane with flying performance similar to the original sparrow and for the price of a kit!
