The RESolution is the newest offering from Ed Whyte of Whyte Wings for NSP.
Ed has taken a Sapphire
airframe and has modified it for Polyhedral flying. The RESolution offers outstanding
performance, rugged durability and an affordable price. The fuse is fiberglass/kevlar with
lots of room for radio gear. The wings are obeechi sheeted over foam with a 1/2 inch CF
tube and an aluminum joiner. The standard spoiler (barn door type) may be replaced with
the Multiplex gate spoiler.
A great deal of time was spent in developing the RESolution fuselage. This fuselage has a
nosecone for added strength instead of the usual canopy. The pushrod tubes are installed
by the manufacturer and the wingrod holes are pre-drilled. The fuselage has plenty of room
inside for radio gear, and the unique slide-on nosecone allows easy access for making
adjustments or adding ballast.
The kit is what you would expect of Whyte Wings and NSP: extremely high quality. The
fuselage is fiberglass with Kevlar reinforcement. The wings are presheeted obeechi and of
very nice quality. The tails must be constructed by the modeler, but they come out strong
and light, thereby saving on the overall weight of the RESolution. Full hardware, wood,
plans and instructions are included in the kit.
Like the Sapphire
the RESolution is capable of a hard winch launch and will climb high on tow. It is a well
proportion sailplane and feels very balanced in flight. The modified SD7037 airfoil is
unique to the Sapphire
and RESolution and results in a slow flat glide with a very forgiving stall. It turns out
to be one of the bets landing ships in its class.
Get the RESolution up and in a thermal and it seems to just want to stay there climbing.
You will enjoy this one both for competition and for sport.
