This beautiful open class sailplane uses the Kevlar-reinforced fiberglass fuselage and
triple-taper wings of the Victory in an all-composite structure. Built in this manner,
sheeted with carbonfiber 80/20 cloth and Kevlar, and pre-painted flying surfaces, the
Victory RES's wing is lightweight and VERY strong!
NEW! Now the Victory RES has the light wings. Made famous by the SchpotDorker the
new winglayup lowers the flying weight by 5-6 ounces! The wings have the same layup except
that the last 1/3 of the chord has Kevlar! This makes for a lighter wing, just as strong.
It also distributes the overall weight of the wing farther forward which means less
noseweight!
The Victory RES's all-composite construction features pre-painted carbonfiber and Kevlar
vacuum bagged wings and Kevlar reinforced fiberglass fuselage are the same used on the
Victory C (light). The tails are made from built up balsa and are reinforced with carbon
fiber so they can take hard launches. An added advantage is the weight savings. The
Victory RES finishes to a flying weight of 56 ounces! This sailplane will blow away the
competition. It's very strong and capable of hard zoom launches. With its specially
designed triple-taper planform and airfoil, and yet surprisingly moderate wingloading, the
Victory RES will outfloat, outlaunch and out penetrate anything in its class. Accurately
built wings leave you very little to do to finish this beautiful sailplane.
The Victory RES comes with all custom hardware and is complete. The new spoilers are all
composite and contribute almost no weight to the aircraft. These composite spoilers are
molded into the wing and are hinged with Kevlar. The technique used to manufacture these
spoilers into the wing is just amazing. They are very strong and rigid, yet add almost no
weight to the wing. The best part is that they are part of the wing so there is no
interruption in the contour. They are actuated by a single micro servo in each wing. This
system is very positive both opening and closing and does not rely on elastic bands or
springs to keep the spoilers closed. These spoilers WILL NOT OPEN UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO!
You don't have to worry about the spoilers opening on launch they will stay shut and clean
with the surface of the wing.
Of course the Victory RES is a sweetheart to fly. Very easy to launch the Victory RES
likes to go up the line with plenty of pull. Don't be afraid to use the wing as this baby
is strong! Once off the winch you can settle down to a lazy thermalling speed or put the
nose down a bit and go searching for thermals. The triple taper planform and SD7037
airfoil (modified) are perfect for either task. Slow the Victory RES down it it is a
gentle floater, speed it up and you will be surprised by its flat glide and penetration.
Landing are a cinch with the big lightweight spoilers. Just line it up on the spot and use
the spoilers to both slow it down and for glide control. The generous rudder will keep the
nose of the Victory RES tracking straight. The landing speeds are very slow so you will
have time to line it up and get that perfect score.
The high aspect ratio built up stabs and the large rudder give you complete control of
your sailplane even at the lowest speeds. Thermalling turns become very controllable,
while landings are predictable and slow. The Victory can be flown quite slow and you will
still maintain control for those flat efficient thermal turns. The planform has been
enhanced to provide smooth controlled approaches with no fall-off at stall speeds. As a
competitor, you will have a clear advantage in the landing circle. If you can't win with
the Victory RES, you need a lot more practice! Victory can be yours.
Sal Says:
Launch as hard as you want and then slow the Victory RES down to a float. The Victory RES is made for RES competition flying! All the same wonderful flight performance as the Victory SE with a lower weight and simple, easy handling. A novice can easily fly this ship! The new spoilers and new wing construction drop the weight down another 8 ounces and work perfectly!
